Beaches in Tuscany, relax and soak up the sun

Viareggio Beach

As most will know this is the most well known stretch of Beach along the Versilian coast and is very popular with the Italians in August.

In the centre of Viareggio the beach is immediately behind the promenade, you will see that a lot of the hotels have a piece of the beach exclusively. At the left hand end near the jetty its a free beach.If you prefer it quiter with no costs go to Vecchiano which is a little further to the south.

The water is clean however the level of the sea is not consistent. It becomes very shallow in places so be careful.

San Vincenzo down to Piombino

The beaches go for long distances, here you go from pebbles to sand. Most are free beaches and well maintained with not too many hotels so a more relaxed atmosphere. Its important to have your own transport, you will find plenty of parking spaces along the road, You may have to walk through a little piece of forest and onto a dune, you will see that the area is unspoilt and has natural beauty.
