The house is located in Piegaio Alto, a hillside area of the Garfagnana and Pescaglia. Lucca town is a 16 km/10 miles drive away from the house. The distance to Pisa airport is approx. 45 km, whereas Florence city & airport are about 70 km away.

The Garfagnana and the wonderful valley of Pescaglia are repudiated to be one of the most beautiful areas of the Lucchesia considering the panoramic position. Here you will find many little hamlets such as Piegaio Alto, Colognora or Vetriano, the latter has a medieval tower and the smallest theatre of the world, only 55 sqm, named by the musician Alfredo Catalani

This charming tower house is situated in the hamlet of Piegaio Alto - it was restored with great care by using the old material to maintain the original character and charm of the house, stone walls  in and outside with visible stones, beamed ceilings. Guests who choose this picturesque spot as a holiday home may have a walk, go horse-back riding or to do a trip by mountain bike on small paths in the woods to enjoy healthy life and the taste of nature. The temptation of the local specialties could also be a reason why one would decide to stay in this area. Here you may taste the "faro"-soup, "polenta" with rabbit and excellent local wines.

Description of the accommodation

A few steps to the entrance: living-dining room with couch, dining table, big fire-place built in stone, kitchen made of stone, with stove, oven, fridge/freezer, stone-basin, exit to a little court with lawn, about 40 sqm, equipped with table, chairs, barbecue, deck-chairs and sun-umbrella. 1 small bathroom with wc, basin and washing machine, stairs made of wrought-iron to the 1st floor: 1 double bedroom, 1 bathroom with shower, wc, bidet, exit onto a terrace. 2nd floor: 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, 1 small bathroom with tub/shower, wc, bidet. Possibility to add 2 additional beds. The house is very cosy and rustic furnished - the living area is antique with beamed ceilings, stonewalls with visible stones. Parking 100m from the house at the square of the hamlet.

The house has been totally renovated and refurnished and all interiors are new and in perfect condition, giving the apartment a fresh and clean feeling.

Lucca Town

Lucca is the most wonderful small town; its famous walls enclose a place that can be walked or cycled with ease yet remains full of secrets.One of Italy's finest mediaeval treasures, the centre is unspoilt and is sprinkled with palazzi, towers and almost countless splendid churches. The surrounding hills produce some excellent wines and arguably the finest olive oil anywhere, whilst the beaches and nightlife are but a small hop away. You can visit the house where Giacomo Puccini was born or visit the famous Villas of Napoleons sisters.
