The Carnival of
Viareggio
The Carnival of Viareggio has been in existance for 139
years and its one of the biggest carnevals in Italy and
Europe.
Since the start of the carneval all those years ago it has
acquired a strong following of both tourists and locals alike. More
than one million spectators gather for the month of February each
year to see the magic of the great parade of big floats and
glamourous people.
The parades take place in a ring-like circuit which is 2
km. long, on the seaside avenues of Viareggio.
The floats move slowly among the spectators where you can
see and experience the excitement and tradition in a
wide programme of entertainment and fun for children and
adults.
